When entering into any utility contract it’s essential that you fully understand how it will operate, the risks and the potential benefits.  Here at Ethical Sustainability we can help to translate the jargon and make sure you get the contract set up that is best for your business.

  • understand what type of trading approach is best for you, a flexible contracting approach or fixed, and the duration.
  • carefully consider how your supplier will invoice you for the charges on your bills which are non-commodity costs – the taxes and levies, as manufacturers can often benefit from discount schemes to reduce these.  
  • decide whether renewable energy is important for your business, and which is the best way to secure this.

Our Service Delivery

Our service for procurement clients will depend somewhat on your specific requirements and timeline, but an outline of the process is provided below.  Our preference with procurement support is to operate on a fixed fee basis as your advisor, rather than enter into complex contracting arrangements where our income is tied to suppliers, to ensure our impartiality is never compromised.

Procurement Support Delivery

  1. Kick-Off Call or Meeting: A brief call or meeting to discuss your needs and our data requirements.
  2. Data Provision: A copy of your current Utility contracts and at least 12 months of Utility data will be requested, this can be provided via LOA where your supplier and DC are willing to provide copy data or portal access, or by your nominated person if this access is not available.
  3. Data Analysis: Our analyst will conduct a quality assessment on the data provided and confirm it is suitable, they will then proceed to analyse your usage to determine winter/summer split and your procurement profiles.
  4. Scoping Call or Meeting: We will meet with you to discuss your stated needs and the options to fulfil them, we will discuss the risks and benefits of each approach and different routes to market available to you.
  5. Tender Design: Depending on the outcome from your scoping call we can assist you to design a specification to go to market with, place a contract directly with a supplier, or with trading support.
